Take the cardiovascular risk quiz

Living healthy is good living

Oh, you KNOW I love food. If you’re like me, the most challenging part of a diabetes management plan is figuring out what to eat and sticking to a food plan. Staying active can be tricky, too, with work, family, and everything else that keeps you busy. But when you’re getting real about living healthy with type 2 diabetes and reducing that cardiovascular risk, you gotta do what you gotta do, right?

Take this fun quiz to reveal some delicious meal options. (Don’t forget to check with your doctor before you make any diet changes. They know a bit more than I do!)

Tips for healthy eating

When I decided to get real about my diabetes, my doctor showed me how much my current diet was going to hurt me in the long run. So when I decided to clean up my diet, I wasn’t messing around. Changing how you eat is a process, and it doesn’t happen overnight.

Your doctor and care team can give you good advice about nutrition and how to be as healthy as you can. Talk to them before making any major changes to your diet. They’ll steer you in the right direction to make sure that you’re making choices that are right for you.

Getting out and active

Physical activity is important to your health and blood sugar control, and may help reduce cardiovascular risk.

It only takes half an hour a day

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) recommends moderate physical activity for 150 minutes a week, which could be as simple as 30 minutes a day for five days a week. Check in with your care team first. They can help come up with the right activity plan for you.
